How to download a whole Bluesky profile

Every picture and video an artist has posted, in original quality, with no scrolling and no post limit. There are two ways: as a ZIP on your computer, or straight into a private library.

Option 1: a ZIP with the Chrome extension

  1. Install the free Bluesky Media Downloader.
  2. Open the artist's profile on Bluesky and press Download profile.
  3. It first counts what is there, for example “412 pictures and videos in 230 posts”. You can limit it to some dates, or skip what you already downloaded.
  4. Press Download. The files arrive as one ZIP, each saved with the artist's name and the date.

Option 2: straight into your Musepile library

  1. Open Musepile, press Add, then A whole profile.
  2. Type the handle or paste the profile link, and press Find. It shows how many pictures and videos there are and how much space they need.
  3. Press Add. The files are saved on your computer, each with its creator, caption and link, and you can keep going in the library while it works.

If you choose a folder on your computer as the library's home, the originals are saved there as ordinary files. You can also follow an artist, so their new posts are saved by themselves and wait for you to look at them.

What you get, and what you don't

You get the pictures and videos the artist posted themselves, in the original files. Pictures inside link previews, posts they only reposted and the pictures of posts they quoted are left out, so the profile really is theirs. GIF posts are saved too, as GIF files, in the ZIP and in the library. Only public posts can be read.

Good to know

Is there a limit on how many posts?

No. It reads the profile 100 posts at a time straight from the artist's server, newest first, however long the profile is.

Does it keep the original quality?

Yes. It saves the file the artist uploaded, not the compressed copy Bluesky shows.

Is it free?

Downloading a whole profile is free, both with the extension and in Musepile. Following more than one artist is part of Premium.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Your browser fetches the files from Bluesky and keeps them on your computer.
