Download Bluesky images and video in original quality
Paste the link to a Bluesky post and get the original files, exactly as the author uploaded them, not the smaller copies the app shows. It works in your browser and nothing is uploaded to us.
How it works
- On Bluesky, open the post and use Copy link to post in its share menu.
- Paste the link above and press Get the original files.
- Press Download original under each picture or video.
Why “original” matters
Bluesky shows pictures through an image service that resizes and compresses them. The file the artist actually uploaded is stored on their own server. This page reads that file, so what you save is byte for byte what they posted: full resolution, no extra compression. Videos are saved the same way, as the file stored for the post.
Saving many at once
For more than a few posts, the free Bluesky Media Downloader extension puts a download button beside every post and can save a whole profile. To keep what you save organised, with the creator, caption and link attached, add it to your Musepile library.
Good to know
Is it free?
Yes. This page and the original-quality download are free, and you do not need an account.
Does it work for videos?
Yes. It gives you the video file stored for the post. GIFs are the exception on this page: Bluesky links them to a GIF service, so this page cannot read them. The Chrome extension's download button saves them as GIF files.
Do I need to log in to Bluesky?
No. It works with public posts. Posts from private or deleted accounts cannot be read.
Are my links or files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser asks Bluesky for the post and for its files directly. Nothing passes through a Musepile server.
